Located in the west of the department of Aveyron, between Rodez and Villefranche de Rouergue, Château of Bournazel’s innovative architecture and the quality of its sculpted decoration make it one of the most remarkable Renaissance châteaux in the South of France.

Enriched with period furniture, objets d’art and paintings, this château and its garden plunge the visitor into the humanistic and literary atmosphere of the Renaissance – a golden century forever lost.

The château is open every day except Tuesdays from 30 March to 11 November following the hours detailed below.

30 March – 13 July : 2 pm to 6 pm
14 July – 31 August : 10am to 12pm and 2pm to 6:30pm
1 September – 11 November : 2 pm to 6 pm

The interior of the château is accessible only by guided tour (duration: about 1 hour).  In the morning, two visits are scheduled : 10:30 and 11:00. In the afternoon, the first visit is at 2:30 p.m. Following this, visits are scheduled every 25 to 30 minutes. The last visit is at 5:30 p.m. If you are planning to take the last tour of the day please allow time to visit the garden before the tour begins. Please note that the château and the garden are closed between 12h and 14h.

The guided visits of the château are conducted in French. Non-French speakers are welcome to join these visits with a fully illustrated written translation of the visit in either English or Spanish. Alternatively, in July and August, a visit in English is scheduled at 14:45 every day except Tuesdays when the château is closed.

If you do not wish to visit the interior of the château, it is possible to visit the garden and the exterior of the château with a «Garden only» ticket. The last entrance to the garden is at 18:00.

We do not take reservations unless your group is more than 10 people.

Due to the number of stairs and the small size of some rooms, we do not accept strollers or baby backpacks. We ask that babies be carried in the arms during the visit.

Dogs are permitted in the gardens provided they are kept on a leash and the owners pick up any waste.  Dogs are not permitted in the château unless they can be carried in a handbag during the guided visit.
