THE CHÂTEAU & GARDEN OF BOURNAZEL

Located in the west of the department of Aveyron, between Rodez and Villefranche de Rouergue, Château of Bournazel’s innovative architecture and the quality of its sculpted decoration make it one of the most remarkable Renaissance châteaux in the South of France.

Enriched with period furniture, objets d’art and paintings, this château and its garden plunge the visitor into the humanistic and literary atmosphere of the Renaissance – a golden century forever lost.

The guided visits of the château are conducted in French (see below for visits in English).

From July 14 to August 31, guided visits in French are scheduled for the morning, at 10:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The first afternoon visit in French takes place at 2:30 p.m. Subsequent visits are organized at intervals of approximately 25 minutes, with the last one scheduled for 5:30 p.m. If you are taking either the 11:00 a.m. or the 5:30 p.m. guided visit, you should plan to see the gardens before the visit begins. Please also note that for these two timeslots, only “Renaissance Tour” option is available.

Non-French speakers are welcome to join any of the visits with a fully illustrated written translation in either English or Spanish. Alternatively, from 2 July 31 August (with the exception of 10 & 18 July), a visit in English is scheduled at 14:20 every day apart from Tuesdays .

If you do not wish to visit the interior of the château, it is possible to visit the garden and the exterior of the château with a «Garden only» ticket. The last entrance to the garden is at 18h.

We do not take reservations unless your group is more than 10 people.

Due to the number of stairs and the small size of some rooms, we do not accept strollers or baby backpacks. We ask that babies be carried in the arms during the visit.

Photos are not permitted inside the château.

Dogs are permitted in the gardens provided they are kept on a leash and the owners pick up any waste.  Dogs are not permitted in the château unless they can be carried in a handbag during the guided visit.
